The tandem of Ed Alden and Gregg Cartier of High Bridge Hills Golf Club today captured the 74th New Jersey State Golf Association Four Ball Championship at the par 71, 6850 yard Panther Valley Golf and Country Club in Hackettstown.

ALLAMUCHY, NJ (August 16, 2006) -- Alden and Cartier defeated Adam Kugler and Neal Schuman of Alpine Country Club 3&2 in this afternoon’s Championship match after besting John Peterson and Derrick Scenna of Deal in the morning semi-final, 1-up. Kugler and Schuman had advanced to the Championship by way of defeating defending Champions Michael Minter and Robert Whartenby of Mercer Oaks, 2-up. The original Championship field consisted of 32 teams of two players in a better ball, match play format. Alden and Cartier will hold the Ridgewood Country Club Championship Trophy for the ensuing year, and will be exempt from qualifying for the 75th Four Ball Championship in August of 2007.
