Perennial power Nova Southeastern leads by four shots after the first round of play

ALLENDALE, Mich. (May 20, 2014) -- Perennial power Nova Southeastern leads by four shots after the first round of play at the 2014 NCAA Men's Division II Golf Championship at Meadows Golf Club. Mitch Farrer shot the low round of the day, a 70, to take control of the individual medalist race and lead Nova Southeastern to the top of the leaderboard. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based school also received first-round 71s from Santiago Gomez and Ricardo Celia. Chico State is in second place on the strength of Alistair Doherty's 71. Will Filcroft and Justin Wiles chipped in 73s to keep Chico within striking distance entering Round 2 on Tuesday. Barry University is five shots back and alone in third place while CSU-Monterey Bay and Indiana University of Pa. round out the Top 5.
