The overnight leader in the 2012 Australian
Master of the Amateurs, 20 year
old Nathan Holman has tightened his grip on
the title ahead of tomorrow’s
final round at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
With rounds of 67, 72 and 69 ,
Holman now holds a five shot lead over this
field of 54 elite amateur golfers.
New Zealander Ben Campbell shot into
contention with his round today of
seven under. Campbell, like the rest of the
field, enjoyed the milder conditions
after the wild storms of the previous 24 hours.
But his was not the best round of the day.
17 year old West Australian Oliver
Goss shot 64, just one shot off the West
Course record that’s survived for 50
years.
It was a case of what might have been for the
teenager who lost a ball on the
12th, but still managed just 30 on the back
nine.
The shot of the day belonged to Englishman
Ashley Chesters ... a hole-in-one
on the 202 metre par three 16th. And it’s not
the first time the 22 year old has
scored an ace. It is in fact his fourth, the last
one was eight years ago.
Queenslander Daniel Nisbet starts
tomorrow’s final round in striking distance
of the leader. So too is world number five,
Kelly Kraft from the USA and the
ever consistent Tasmanian McCarthy. He has
had rounds of 72 71 and 71.
