Missouri Amateur: Defending champ Johnson earns top seed

Johnson, the defending champion, carded rounds of 64-71 to top the field and beat second-place finisher Skip Berkmeyer by four shots

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (June 25, 2014) -- On the strength of his first-round 64, Joey Johnson took medalist honors at the 2014 Missouri Amateur Championship. Johnson, the defending champion and rising golfer at Missouri State, carded rounds of 64-71 to top the field and beat second-place finisher Skip Berkmeyer by four shots. Johnson will be the top seed Thursday morning when match play begins from Norwood Country Club. Berkmeyer shot 67-72 to finish near the top.
