Metropolitan Women's Amateur: Galande wins by 5 shots

Schwete Galande fired a 1-under to claim a five-shot victory

O'FALLON, Missouri (June 16, 2011) -- Schwete Galande played the final round of the 19th Metropolitan Women's Amateur in 1-under par and finished at 145 to earn a 5 shot victory in her first MAGA Women's Amateur. Galande, a native of India, will be a Junior at University of Missouri-St. Louis in the fall. She found herself one shot back of fellow Triton Clara Vila following Round 1. Galande is pictured at left with the Jayne M. Watson Trophy, which she will keep for one year. Missouri State University golfer Catherine Dolan finished Runner-Up after rounds of 76-74. Ellen Port and Gina DellaCamera each shot 151 to tie for third. Port was looking for her 13th Women's title. In other flights: B Flight -- Ann Dollarhide won with a NET 1-under par; Lea Gorg was Runner-Up. C Flight -- Carol Cullinane won with a NET 7-under par total; Alicia Anderson was Runner-Up.
