Matias Dominguez of Chile grabs 54-hole lead at Latin America Amateur

Texas Tech senior Matias Dominguez has a one-shot lead over Argentina's Alejandro Tosti with 18 holes remaining Sunday

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Jan. 17, 2015) — Sunday at Pilar Golf Club will be a shootout. With Chile's Matias Dominguez and Argentina's Alejandro Tosti within one-shot of each other, and a potential trip to the Masters on the line, spectators to the inaugural Latin America Amateur are sure to get their money's worth. Dominguez, a senior at Texas Tech, fired 65 on Friday to pull within one of second-round leader Andre Tourinho of Brazil, then followed that with 69 in the third round to now lead the event by one. Dominguez finished the round in dramatic fashion to take the lead, making birdies on the final three holes. Tourinho posted 75 and is now five back. Tosti, the host nation's highest-ranked amateur, shot four-under 68 and is alone in second place at nine-under. Juan Sebastian Muñoz of Columbia and Joaquin Bonjour of Argentina are tied for third at six-under. Bonjour at one point reached 11-under after a birdie on the 14th in round two, but a devastating quadruple bogey on the par-three 17th prevented him from holding the 36-hole lead. Live coverage of the final round can be seen on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPN News on Sunday at 8am EST.
