Marsh wins his third Carlton Woods title

Kevin Marsh edged out second round co-leaders Brady Exber and Colby Harwell thanks to a final-round 70

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (May 10, 2012) – Coming from two strokes off the pace after Round 2, Kevin Marsh of Henderson, Nev. fired a final-round 70 to finish at the top of the leader board at 2-under par 214 (70-74-70).

Standing on the No. 17 tee, Marsh was 2 strokes behind and figured he would need a birdie-birdie finish for a chance to win. A driver-driver combo set up birdie on the par-5 17th and then a 200-yard cut 5-iron second shot on No. 18 to a dangerous right pin left Marsh a 6-footer, which he made to post a final round 70.

When Coby Harwell failed to make par from the short-side of the 18th green, Marsh would have his third Woodlands title in four years.

“I feel extremely lucky,” said Marsh. “To win this event 3 times and especially today to win like this ... I just can’t think of a better experience in golf.”

Marsh edged out second round co-leader Brady Exber of Las Vegas, and Colby Harwell of Lorena, Texas, who both finished at 215.

Mark Knecht of Paducah, Kent., who contended in last year's event with a third-place finish, was tied for 16th.

This win marks Marsh’s third time in the winner’s circle at the Carlton Woods Invitational as he won in 2009 and 2010.
