Linger Longer Inv.: 'Bama, Georgia share lead

Alabama, No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarain College Rankings, and No. 5 Georgia are tied for the lead after the second round of the Linger Longer Invitational on Saturday

(March 22, 2014) -- Alabama, No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarain College Rankings, and No. 5 Georgia are tied for the lead after the second round of the Linger Longer Invitational on Saturday. Both teams shot 20-under 556 at Great Waters Golf Course in Eatonton, Ga., and are nine shots ahead of the field. Oklahoma, who was leading after Round 1, shot 7 over in the second round and currently sits in a tie for third with Mercer at 11 under. Kennesaw State is fifth at 5-under 281. No. 2 in the Golfweek Individual Rankings, Alabama freshman Robby Shelton shot 69-66 on Saturday at the par-72 7,073-yard course. No. 1 in the rankings, Georgia’s Joey Garber is in second with an 8-under 136 total – one shot back of Shelton. Five players are tied for third at 6 under.
