Latin America Amateur: Brazil's top golfer Andrew Tourinho leads by one

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Jan. 16, 2015) — For a while, it was looking like the second-round lead would go to Argentina's own Joaquin Bonjour, who entered the 17th hole at 11-under par for the tournament. But a devastating quadruple bogey allowed Brazil's top-ranked amateur Andre Tourinho to sneak into position. Tourinho, a 24-year-old from Rio de Janeiro who played collegiately for Tulsa, was two-back of a group of leaders at 68 entering Friday's round before stringing together five birdies in his first seven holes to jump into the lead. Bonjour reached 11-under with a birdie on 14 but made a seven on the par-three 17th hole to drop to seven-under, one shot back of Tourinho. He'll enter Saturday's third round tied for second place with Matias Dominguez of Chile, who with a 65 carded the lowest round of the tournament thus far. One of four first-round leaders, Juan Alvarez of Uruguay, is alone in fourth place after a second-round 70. Live coverage will begin on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPN News beginning Saturday at 7am EST.
