Langdale hangs on to Palmetto Am lead

Austin Langdale remains in the lead following Day 2 of the Palmetto Amateur held at the Palmetto Golf Club

AIKEN, S.C. (June 8, 2012) -- Austin Langdale remains in the lead following Day 2 of the Palmetto Amateur held at the Palmetto Golf Club. Langdale of Townville, SC fired a second-round 70 to accompany a red-hot 4-under 66 in the first round. He leads by two of Lee McCoy of Clarkesville, Ga. McCoy rallied with a 2-under 68 in the second round. Following closely alone in third place is J.D. Tomlinson of Gainesvill, Fla., who shot a 3-under 67 to get back into contention. The Palmetto Amateur is a 72- hole stroke play event held on a classic Alister MacKenzie design. The field of 84 is selected from applicants based on handicap, participation in amateur golf events and competitive record, in previous Palmetto Amateurs and other amateur tournaments.
