Lamkin Classic: San Diego State, ASU's Rahm prevail

Led by Xander Schauffele, San Diego State prevailed by three shots; ASU's John Rahm earned individual honors

SAN DIEGO, Calif (March 12, 2013) -- Behind a final-round 70 from Xander Schauffele, San Diego State prevailed by three shots at the 2013 Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at San Diego Country Club. Schauffele shot his second consecutive 70 to propel one of the local teams. John Rahm of Arizona State fired rounds of 72-70-67--209 to take the individual title, besting University of San Diego's Grent Forrest (70-68-73--211) and a trio of players, including Schauffele and USD's Linus Vaisanen, in third place at 212. TCU finished second in the team competition, placing three shots behind San Diego State thanks to a spirited effort by Julien Brun (73-70-73--216). The host course, San Diego Country Club, is known as the home course of golf legends Gene Littler and Billy Casper. With treacherously fast and sloped greens, it's no surprise that Casper wound up being one of the best putters in the game.
