Kentucky State Am: Patrick Newcomb defends

SIMPSONVILLE, Kent. (June 21, 2012) -- The Kentucky State Amateur Championship has another back to back champion to add to its' illustrious history. Patrick Newcomb added his second title in as many years with a four stroke victory and a final total of 7 under par 206. Newcomb held off runner-up Ryan McCann with a steady round of even par and let the field fade away from any serious threat during the hot June day at the Cardinal Club. His card included three birdies and three bogeys in the even par round. McCann was making a charge during the front nine posting a 2 under par 33 before giving them back on the inward nine and finishing at 3 under par for the championship. The 2013 Kentucky State Amateur will be held at Bowling Green Country Club.
