Kentucky Amateur: Logan Hogge extends lead to two

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The day started with a bang (literally) as thunderstorms greeted players but passed before the 8 a.m. tee times began at the Kentucky State Amateur. Mother Nature provided a great morning after the early storm and was able to soften the greens and make for some solid scoring conditions. J.B. Williams of Danville led the morning wave to finish at four-under-par 144 for the tournament. The University of Akron golfer shot a bogey-free round of 71 in his final round. Things got interesting in the afternoon as the players experienced a two-hour and ten-minute weather delay, with the final groups having about 12 holes left to play. Everyone was able to finish before total darkness and Logan Hogge, of Salt Lick, was emerged in a “Rory McIlroy at Valhalla” -type finish to become the second-round leader (continuing his lead from day one). The Morehead State University golfer shot a second-round 70 to finish at six-under-par 138. The low round of the day belonged to Louisville’s David Jasper, who rebounded on Wednesday with a four-under-par 68. Seventy-three players at a score of 154 or better will compete in the final round on Thursday. Tee times will begin on Holes 1 and 10 at 8:00 a.m.
