CROMWELL, Conn. (June 24, 2013) -- The Travelers Championship, just outside of Hartford, has been a haven of sorts for the world's top level amateurs.
Two years ago, it was where then-world No. 1 Patrick Cantlay shot an eye-popping 60 to take an early tournament lead.
It was also the site of Cantlay's announcement that he'd be leaving UCLA and turning professional last year.
This year, of course, it was where world No. 2 Chris Williams officially turned professional.
The 2013 event, however, will be known in coming years as Justin Thomas' coming out party to the world. The Alabama junior and the world's No. 12 player went 3-under to finish tied for 30th at TPC River Highlands this past weekend.
Thomas, of course, was a key cog in Alabama's NCAA Championship victory earlier this month. He was also a part of the Palmer Cup-winning USA squad in June.
What's next for Thomas? At this point, given his terrific performance against a solid PGA Tour field, his summer will end at the Walker Cup in Southampton, NY.
