Jon Rahm leads after opening round of Spanish Stroke Play

2015 Ben Hogan Award winner John Rahm opened with 69 to lead the way at the Spanish Stroke Play

VIZCAYA, Spain — (July 23, 2015) — The opening round of the Spanish National Stroke Play championship began Thursday at Laukariz Country Club. Jon Rahm leads the way so far after an opening round 3-under 69. Rahm is the number four ranked amateurgolf.com golfer in the world and his impressive resume includes the 2015 Ben Hogan Award recipient, 2014 World Amateur Champion, and a top-5 at this year’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. Rahm will be a senior this fall at Arizona State. Trailing Rahm by one is recent Central Arkansas graduate Pep Angeles of Barcelona, Spain and Javier Lopez of Spain. Players will be compete in three more rounds with the winner to be decided on Sunday.
