Jay Whitby defends Delaware Amateur title

Whitby ran away from the field on his way to winning his second straight Delaware Amateur

WYOMING, DE (June 22, 2016) -- Jay Whitby, playing on his home course of Wild Quail Golf & Country Club finished 9-under after 72-holes of play and successfully defended his Delaware Amateur title. Whitby put together rounds of 69-70-68-72 on his way to winning by six-strokes over Ryan Rucinski. The best round of the week for Whitby came in Tuesday's third round when the back-to-back champion posted a 4-under 68. Whitby carded five birdies and one bogey. For the week Whitby tallied 15 birdies and just six bogeys. Second place finisher Ryan Rucinski was 3-under while Bob Bechtold was 3-over and in third. Joe Tigani, Michael Chanaud and Lucas Farmer were all 6-over and tied for fourth.
