Jack Hume breaks away from pack for two-shot lead at Irish Open Amateur

After 10 players posted 69 on day one at Royal Dublin, only Jack Hume can say he is the leader after a difficult second round

DUBLIN, Ireland — After 10 players posted 69 on day one at Royal Dublin, only Jack Hume can say he is the leader after a difficult second round at the Irish Open Amateur. Hume, who tied for sixth place last year, shot 70 on day two as he broke away from a remarkably large group of players tied for first place. Evan Griffith of Wales, one of those original 10 leaders, is in second place at three-under 141. Kevin LeBlanc holds third place at 142, while six players are tied for fourth at 143, including recent Lytham Trophy runner-up Cormac Sharvin of Northern Ireland. Twenty-five players were under par after day one but nine remain as conditions toughened on day two.
