In Australia, Harrison Endycott grabs first round lead at Avondale Am

Endycott puts himself in position to repeat as champion; last week's New South Wales Amateur winner Austin Bautista continues to shine

PYMBLE, Australia (Feb. 3, 2016) -- Finding comfort at his home course, defending champion Harrison Endycott fired a 6-under 65 in the first round of the Avondale Amateur Medal at Avondale Golf Club. Endycott had but one blemish on his scorecard, a bogey on the par-4 10th hole. He started his round with birdies on Nos. 1 and 3, and went back-to-back on holes 6 and 7 as well as holes 11 and 12. After a final birdie on the par-3 15th hole, Endycott posted three straight pars for his 65. In second place at 5-under is Austin Bautista, fresh off of his win at the New South Wales Amateur. Like the leader, Bautista posted his lone bogey on No. 11 before catching fire on the inward nine. He birdied Nos. 13, 14, 15 and 17 to finish a shot back of the leader. Three are tied in third place at 4-under – Cameron Davis, Jack McLeod and Tony Lee – all posting 67 to trail Endycott by two strokes. Troy Moses, runner-up to Bautista in the NSW Am, is T-6 along with Darcy Boyd.
