In Alabama, Harlan Winn leads Spirit of America Classic

Celebrating its 50th year, the tournament combines and individual and college team championship at Burningtree CC

DECATUR, Alabama (July 8, 2017) -- Harlan Winn, who just finished his freshman year at Birmingham's Samford University, leads the Spirit of America Classic after posting rounds of 71 and 67 at Burningtree Country Club. Winn will need to continue keeping his eye on red numbers as he is chased by almost 20 players that are within 5 shots of his score. Right behind him at 139 after rounds of 69 and 70 is Brandon Lacasse. Lacasse, who hails from Chateauguay, Quebec (Canada) plays for Wallace State Community College. The low round of the day (and tournament so far) was a 65 posted by Cody O'Toole which was a full 10 shot improvement over his opening 75 and puts him in a four-way tie for third at 140. In the team competition, Florida State has a one shot lead over Mississippi State with a total of 284 by Tyler Bakich and Jake Carter.
