McKINLEYVILLE Calif. (Aug. 12, 2007)-- Danny Clayton, a rising junior at Cal State Chico and Eureka native, held off a late charge by Rio Kuteria to take home the Humboldt County Amateur.
Clayton shot a first-round 68 at Redwood Empire Golf and Country Club, followed by a 73 at BeauPre Golf Course to finish at 141. Kuteria followed up his opening-round 76 with a 67, but it wasn't enough to force a playoff.
