How the six amateurs fared at The Masters

Austin Greaser and Keita Nakajima shot the lowest, as Augusta National proved an exciting but daunting test

Austin Greaser and Japan's Keita Nakajima shot the best scores among amateurs at The Masters; however at 7-over 151, however, none of the six amateurs in the 90-player field made the 36-hole cut, which came at 4-over par.

Greaser, a junior at North Carolina, carded rounds of 74-77 while Nakajima, the current No. 1-ranked golfer in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, followed an opening-round 72 with a 79 on Friday in blustery conditions at the Augusta National Golf Club.

U.S. Amateur champion James Piot of Michigan State and Latin America Amateur Champion Aaron Jarvis finished at 10-over 155 after posting identical rounds of 81-74. Jarvis, the youngest player in the field, narrowly missed acing the infamous par-3 12th and 16th holes before settling for birdies. Piot made four birdies in his eight three holes and signed for a 74, missing the 36-hole cut by seven shots.

"I'm a college kid who got to play The Masters and stay at Augusta National," posted Piot. "It doesn't get much better than that."

Stewart Hagestad, the reigning U.S. Mid-Amateur champion who was playing in his second Masters, shot rounds of 79-81 while Laird Shepherd, the reigning Royal & Ancient Amateur champion, carded rounds of 81-85.
