TUSCON, Ariz. -- The Texas men's golf team came away victorious Sunday at the Arizona Intercollegiate hosted by the par-71, 7262-yard Sewailo Golf Club.
The Longhorns trailed the Washington Huskies by six shots entering the final round and came out firing. Beau Hossler lead the charge, shooting final-round 67 and collecting his second medalist honors of the 2015-16 season.
Doug Ghim and Gavin Hall added rounds of 70 and 69 respectively with Taylor Funk rounding out the crew with an even-par 71. The effort was enough to push the Longhorns ahead by five shots.
The Huskies received strong performances by Frank Garber and Jonathan Sanders who finished runner-up and solo third, respectively. Carl Yuan started the final-round on fire, making five birdies for a front-nine 30. Unfortunately, a 10 on the 14th hole led to a back-nine 45 that brought the team back to the field.
The Cal Bears finished the three rounds at even-par and took third place. Collin Morikawa lead the Bears in scoring with a 4-under par total and a 4th place finish. Shotaro Ban also played well, finishing inside the top 10 with the help of a second-round 65.
