Horacio Carbonetti Prevails at Argentina Stroke Play

DEL VISO, Argentina (Feb. 21, 2016) -- Horacio Carbonetti has captured the Argentina Stroke Play Championship, one of the most prestigious amateur tournaments in the country. Carbonetti entered the final round trailing Andres Gallegos by one shot. The pair both went out in 2-under par but a birdie-less back nine found Carbonetti 2-behind Gallegos with one hole to play. Carbonetti dug deep and birdied the par-4 finishing at 4-under. Amazingly, Gallegos made bogey which forced a three-way playoff between the two and Jesus Montenegro. After a three hole playoff, Carbonetti prevailed to capture the national championship. The Women's Championship was won by Agustina Zeballos who fired rounds of 74, 71, and 69 for a 5-under par total and a five-shot victory.
