With one round left to play, the leading teams find themselves in prime position.
Texans Honeck and Frost made the turn Wednesday at 5 under and without a single bogey on the card. They made their lone bogey later in the day on the par-4 12th but followed it with a string of four birdies in a row starting at No. 13. Their round of 9-under 63 tied for the tournament low, and left them 17 under for the championship, four shots ahead of the next-best team.
First-round leaders David Richards and Robert Kupchynsky, both of Dallas, Texas, bounced back from a shaky start with a 2-under 70. They are six shots off the pace.
Despite making two bogies on the back nine, Hudson and Kropp managed to hold on to the senior lead. After all, they had five birdies to counter those bogeys. Their 7-under 65 was the low round of the day in the Senior Division and vaulted them to the top of the leaderboard.
First-round senior leaders Kip Estep and Don Gafner had even-par 72 in the second round and trail Hudson and Kropp by five entering the final round.
Finally, Sheff and Tolly vaulted up the Super Senior leaderboard with a 6-under 66 highlighted by an eagle from Sheff on the seventh hole. They combined for six birdies and a bogey in the round to grab a one-shot lead.
