Hirschmann takes Southeastern Amateur lead

Hirschmann, who birdied six straight holes to turn in one of the day's top cards

COLUMBUS, Ga. (June 12, 2014) -- Grant Hirschman fired a second-round 66 and leads at the 85th Southeastern Amateur. Hirschmann, an Oklahoma signee, shot 69 in Wednesday's Round 1 before going low with the round of the day on Thursday. It all equals a one-shot lead entering Friday's third round at the Country Club of Columbus. Charlie Martin, John Jonas and Shad Tuten are all tied for second place at 6-under. Tuten held the first-round lead after a 65 but stumbled to a 71 on Thursday. Martin shot his second straight 68 while Jonas carded a 67 to climb the leaderboard. Cody Proveaux, a rising Clemson golfer, also shot 66 Thursday and climbed into a fifth-place tie along with Corey Carlson. Heading into Friday's Round 3, however, they'll all chasing Hirschmann, who birdied six straight holes to turn in one of the day's top cards.
