High school senior leads Okla. Open

Thomas Johnson, a high school senior from Norman, Okla., shot an opening-round 62 at the Oklahoma Open to lead by two

EDMOND, Okla. (Aug. 23, 2013) — In a field packed with aspiring professional golfers, it was an amateur golfer that jumped out to a two-shot lead early at the Oklahoma Open. But this wasn't just any amateur. It was a senior in high school. Thomas Johnson, who will be a senior this year at Norman North High School, fired 62 on Friday at Oak Tree National Golf Club. Johnson has verbally committed to Oklahoma State University.
