Hawaii State Amateur: Comeback Win for Tyler Ota

By 808Golf.com and the Hawaii Golf Association HSGA completed our 55th Hawaii State Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Pearl Country Club, site since 1987. In the Men’s Open division, Chris Vandette from Golf Canada started the day with a 4-shot lead and was looking to run away with the tournament, but HSGA's 2015, 16 & 17 player of the year Tyler Ota dug deep and had a fantastic final round of 5-under par 67 to come from behind and win the tournament by 2-strokes. Ota's final score was 11-under par 277. Congrats Tyler! Pictured above champion Tyler Ota left and tournament director Jay Hinazumi right. Here are the rest of our winners of each division: Mid-Amateur- Shawn Sakoda- +4, 292 over 72-holes Women’s Open- Kyung Eun Lee- +18, 306 over 72-holes. Men’s Senior- Mike Kawate- Even par, 216 over 54-holes.
