Harrison Endycott runs away with Avondale Amateur Medal

Harrison Endycott tore up his home course to claim the 72-hole Avondale Amateur Medal by nine strokes

PYMBLE, Australia — Harrison Endycott took advantage of his local course knowledge to run away with a nine-shot win at the Avondale Amateur Medal, a tournament he just missed winning a year ago. Endycott, playing his home club Avondale Golf Club, opened the scoring on day one with a seven-under 64 to lead by four, eventually extending that lead to nine with 70-69-71 in the final three rounds. Endycott lost by a stroke in 2014 to Ryan Evans after Endycott gave up a six-shot lead with a 73 in the fourth round. Avondale, which had just finished hosting the New South Wales Amateur, was the perfect fit for Endycott. He lost 4-and-3 to Justin Warren in the round of 16, though got a bit of revenge on Sunday as he beat Warren by 16 shots in the 72-hole event. Richard Wale and Austin Bautista finished in a tie for second place at one-under 283.
