Chase Hanna and Sam Stevens will meet on Sunday for the Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship

MISSION HILLS, KS (July 27, 2013) — Two of the most talented Kansas junior golfers in recent years will meet in the finals of the 103rd Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship. Future Kansas Jayhawk Chase Hanna of Leawood, who will turn 19 years old on Sunday, will take on 17-year old Sam Stevens of Wichita. Stevens, a senior-to-be at Wichita's Kapaun High School, has verbally committed to play college golf for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Stevens will look to add his name to the Kansas Amateur championship trophy along side his father, grandfather and uncle. Hanna advanced to the final by defeating Tonganoxie native and University of Missouri-St. Louis golfer Colby Yates by a 1 up margin. Stevens advanced after defeating Fort Hays State University golfer Trey Herman by a 5&4 margin. The 36-hole championship match will begin at 7:50 am on Sunday, July 28th at Indian Hills Country Club. In the four quarterfinal matches on Saturday morning, Trey Herman, Hays defeated Ryan Argotsinger, Lee's Summit, 1 up. Sam Stevens bested SMU golfer Harry Higgs, 5&4, in Quarterfinal #2. In quarterfinal #3, Chase Hanna edged Zach Vandolah with a birdie on the 20th hole to advance. In the final Quarterfinal, Colby Yates got the better of mid-amateur Mark Terranova by a 4&3 margin.
