Halvorsen holds Florida Azalea lead

Andreas Halvorsen fired a Saturday 65 and takes a four-shot lead into Sunday's final round at Palatka Golf Club

PALATKA, Fla. (March 15, 2014) -- Norway's Andreas Halvorsen fired a red-hot 5-under 65 to take a commanding four-shot lead into the final round of action at the 2014 Florida Azalea Amateur. Halvorsen followed his first-round 67 with the 65 and sits at 8-under 132 after two rounds. Dylan Newman, former Iona College standout and regular competitor in MET Association events, is alone in second place following rounds of 67-69. Halvorsen trailed first-round leader Jordan Ebanks by a shot after play began Friday. Ebanks struggled with a Saturday 74, opening the door for a slew of players. Halvorsen, whose 65 is tied for the lowest round of the tournament (alongside Drew Czuchry's Saturday card), seized the opportunity. Jack Davidson is third, five shots back of Halvorsen. Corey Carlson is fourth while Jack Comstock rounds out the Top 5. Final-round action begins Sunday morning at Palatka Golf Club. AmateurGolf.com will have full final-round results and coverage.
