With an eight shot lead at the halfway point thanks to two-straight rounds in the 60s, Gina Kim had an opportunity run away with the Harder Hall Women's Invitational.
Instead of another red number, The Duke University junior posted 78 as the course played tougher in the third round. But one player, Sophia Bae, was able to post 71 and move into second place, just two shots back heading into tomorrow's final round.
With the night to regroup, Kim is likely to gather herself for the final round. The start will be key. We'll have a final wrap-up Thursday afternoon from Florida.
36-HOLE SUMMARY
The Orange Blossom women's amateur swing through Florida is officially underway, as The Harder Hall Women's Invitational has reached the halfway mark.
So far, Gina Kim has things well in control.
After leading off with a 5-under 67 at Sebring, Florida's Harder Hall Country Club, the Duke University junior from Chapel Hill, NC kept the red numbers going with 3-under 69 to take an 8-shot lead into Wednesday's third round.
Giving chase is University of North Carolina Wilmington golfer Phu Khine. Khine made a big move up the leaderboard today, following an open 75 with a 69, to stand at even par.
There is plenty of golf left to be played, and five players at 1-over 145 and the many more trailing can get into the mix with a strong third round (and perhaps a little help from the leader).
