George Archer passes away at 65

San Francisco Native, the winner of the 1969 Masters and 11 other PGA Tour events, was 65

INCLINE VILLAGE, NV (Sept 25, 2005) -- Golf lost a legend, as George Archer passed away Sunday after a long battle with Burkitts Lymphoma. The San Francisco native won his first PGA Tour event at Harding Park, so players competiting in the World Golf Championship there October 4-7 will definitely walk the fairways of Harding Park thinking about the legend, known for being one of the best putters in PGA Tour history. A memorial service is planned Oct. 25 in Gilroy, California.
