LYTHAM SAINT ANNES, England — Playing Royal Lytham & St. Annes at one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious tournaments, four players are tied atop the opening-round leaderboard at two-under par 68.
One of those four is Swedish junior golfer Marcus Kinhult, who is fresh off his victory in the United States at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley.
Along with Kinhult, three other nations are represented in first place. Cormac Sharvin of Ireland, John Axelsen of Denmark, and Oliver Roberts of Hong Kong are tied at 68 alongside Kinhult.
Top-ranked players in the field include Scotland's Bradley Neil, who opened with one-over 71, Ireland's Gary Hurley, who also posted 71, and France's Romain Langasque, who carded 72.
Four Americans are in the field, with Missouri freshman Grant Kelton in the best shape after 18 holes at four-over 74. Jim Liu, Eli Cole, and James Glenn round out the golfer from the United States at Royal Lytham.
