Duke owns Day One ACC Men's Golf Championship Lead

In the medalist Clemson's Bryson Nimmer is setting the pace following a 6-under 66

CLINTON, SC (April 21, 2017) - No. 22 Duke turned in an 11-under first round and they hold the overnight lead ACC Men's Golf Championship at Musgrove Mill Golf Course. Florida State is in second place at 10-under, defending champion No. 14 Clemson is third at 9-under, No. 20 Georgia Tech is distant fourth at even-par and in fifth it is 3-over North Carolina State. Duke rose to the top of the leaderboard thanks to a trio of players turning in top-10 performances. Both Matt Oshrine and Jake Shuman are tied four fourth at 4-under while one shot further back in a tie for seventh at 3-under is Alexander Matlari. Oshrine began his round on the front nine and opened with six straight pars before birdieing Nos. 7, 8 and 10 to reach 3-under. A bogey on the 14th dropped him back a stroke but birdies on 16 and 17 pushed him to 4-under. For Shuman it was a five birdie, one bogey round. The birdies came on Nos. 3, 6, 7, 13 and 16. In the medalist Clemson's Bryson Nimmer is setting the pace following a 6-under 66. Nimmer started his day on the front side and he birdied seven of his first 16 holes and dropped his only shot of the round on the 17th. Behind Nimmer in the individual race are Cristobal Del Solar of Florida State and Ben Griffin of North Carolina in second place at 5-under while in fourth place at 4-under joining Oshrine and Shuman is Harry Ellis of Florida State.
