Matias Koropeski of Argentina and Hannah Hall of Rockledge, Fla., lead their respective divisions through 18 holes at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla.
Koropeski, a freshman at Indian Hills Community College, was the only golfer in the field to break 70, shooting a 3-under 69. He recorded four birdies, three bogeys, and an eagle.
Evan Meyers of Northbrook, Ill., is just one shot back of Koropeski after a first-round 2-under 70. Meyers, a former Texas A&M golfer who just transferred to Nebraska this season, recorded four birdies and two bogeys.
James Earle (no Jones) of Jupiter, Fla., is in solo third place at 1-over, and Zachary Verses of Sterling, Va., is in solo fourth place at 2-over. Four golfers are locked up at T5 at 3-over to round out the top five.
Women's Division
In the women's invitational at Palm Aire Country Club on the Cypress Course in Pompano Beach, Fla., Hannah Hall of Rockledge, Fla., is the lone golfer in the competition that is under par.
Hall shot a 1-under 71, recording four birdies and three bogeys during her round.
Amelie Zalsman of Saint. Petersburg, Fla., and Lauren Timpf of Macomb, Mich., are T2 and are two shots behind Hall at 1-over. Angela Zhang of Bellevue, Wash., Rachel Gomez of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Jordan Levitt of Bedford, N.Y., Lauryn Finley of Lake Mary, Fla., and Ann-Sophie Bourgault of Naples, Fla., are all T4 at 2-over.
