Defending champion and top seed Denny McCarthy is on to the championship match at the 2014 Maryland State Amateur

Lutherville Timonium, MD (June 7, 2014) -- Defending champion and top seed Denny McCarthy is on to the championship match at the 2014 Maryland State Amateur Championship. McCarthy will take on No. 27 Chris Baloga in Sunday;s 36-hole finale. A rising star from the University of Virginia, McCarthy won twice on Satruday, knocking off No. 9 Mike Blasey and No. 5 Ben Warnquist to reach the finale for the second straight year. Baloga, meanwhile, defeated No. 26 Matthew Bassler in the semifinals after defeating Joseph Rice IV in the morning quarterfinals.
