David Denlinger builds Monroe lead

The Charleston Southern senior shot a 6-under 64 and leads Kent State’s Taylor Pendrith by 3

PITTSFORD, NY (June 13, 2012) -- Charleston Southern’s David Denlinger took an early lead Wednesday at the Monroe Invitational. The senior from Lancaster, Pa., shot a 6-under 64, which left him with a comfortable three-shot lead on Kent State’s Taylor Pendrith. Denlinger shot back-to-back nine-hole scores of 32 in the first round at Monroe Golf Club in Pittsford, N.Y.. He had seven birdies, and carded his only bogey at the par-3 sixth hole. Three players were tied for third at 2-under 68, including Binghamton’s Trevor Sluman, Gardner-Webb’s Daniel Kim and Texas A&M’s Tyler Dunlap. Defending champin Albin Choi, a junior at North Carolina State, is not in the field.
