CCNC Amateur: Auburn's Will Long takes first-round lead

PINEHURST, N.C. (Dec. 17, 2014) — After the first round of the Country Club of North Carolina Amateur, Auburn University sophomore Will Long holds a one-shot lead. Long, a native of Gastonia, N.C., is the only player under-par after the first round with a 71, which leads his teammate Ben Schlottman. Schlottman, a freshman at even-par 72, is in second place on his own leading five other players who are at 73. Ryan Cole of James Madison, Josh Fickles of Clemson, Luke Haithcock and Joshua Stockwell of UNC-Greensboro, and Michael McGowan of UNC are among the five players at one-over 73. The 54-hole tournament concludes on Friday.
