Carlton Woods Invitational Launches New Website

The latest addition to the amateurgolf.com Majors of Amateur Golf calendar, the Carlton Woods Invitational (May 23-26, 2006) will host a national field of mid-amateurs and seniors.

THE WOODLANDS, TX (February 2, 2006)--In preparation for the first playing of the Carlton Woods Invitational, the tournament has launched its new website, www.carltonwoodsinvitational.com.

The Carlton Woods Invitational will be a 54-hole stroke play event held May 23-26, 2006, at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas. Both the Nicklaus and Fazio Courses at Carlton Woods will be used for the event.

The club’s stated goal is to develop the Carlton Woods Invitational into one of the most prestigious events in amateur golf, while providing an unparalleled experience to its competitors. “We want to give our players a pure, traditional golf experience”, said Mark Steinbauer, Director of Golf at The Club at Carlton Woods. “We intend to make this tournament the finest of its kind in the U.S., a very prestigious tournament to win.”

The field will be comprised of two divisions, a 72-player Mid-Am Division and a 36-player Senior Division. Round One will be played on the Nicklaus Course, Round Two will be played on the Fazio Course, and the Final Round will be played on the Nicklaus Course. The field will be cut to the low 50% and ties after Round Two, with the remainder competing in a Consolation Event on the Nicklaus Course.

In just five years of operation, The Club at Carlton Woods has quickly established itself as a preeminent championship venue. The club has hosted USGA Open and Mid-Amateur qualifying, the 2004 Texas State Amateur, and will host the 2007 USGA State Team Championships. The Nicklaus Course has garnered a host of state and national awards, and with the recent opening of the Fazio Course, The Club at Carlton Woods became the first private club in America with Nicklaus and Fazio designs.
