Cal moves into Ka'anapali lead, North Florida close behind

North Florida had the round of the day in Hawaii, but it was Cal who came out of Round 2 with the lead.

LAHAINA, Hawaii (Nov. 3, 2018) – California moved into the lead after the second round of the Ka’anapali Classic on Saturday. The Bears will take a three-shot lead over North Florida into the final round at Ka’anapali Golf Club.

Sebastian Crampton, a 9 under and tied for second individually, leads three Golden Bears in the top 12. KK Limbhasut is tied for sixth at 8 under and Collin Morikawa is tied for 12th at 6 under.

"We really played good, smart golf today," head coach Walter Chun said. "The course was much more difficult today with the win, and I'm proud of the players for persevering all day long."

Crampton started his day on the second hole and birdied five of his first nine holes. After bogeys on the par-4 12th and 14th, he birdied his final hole on the par-5 first.

"We have put ourselves in a great spot to win this event at the end of tomorrow," Crampton said. "We're done a great job of staying aggressive when the time is right and we're going to need more of that tomorrow. We also have to understand that things may not go our way 18 consecutive holes, so we will also have to stay patient at times."

North Florida is second at 24 under after a field-best 18-under 266 on Saturday. That allowed the Ospreys to climb seven spots on the leaderboard and into a place where they can contend for the title in the final round. North Florida’s Andrew Alligood is alone in first at 10 under. His 8-under 63 on Saturday helped the team’s climb considerably.

South Carolina and Georgia are tied for third at 18 under.
