Portrush, County Antrim, Ireland (June 19, 2014) -- Top seed Daniel Brown knocked off Myles Lewis to move onto the Round of 16 at the 2014 British Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush. Brown took top medalist honors during stroke play qualifying and defeated one of only two Americans in the match-play field. Brandon Hagy was the other American moving on to match play after finishing tied for sixth during stroke-play qualifying and he fell in 20 holes to Mathias Eggenberger on Day 1 of match play. Other notables to fall early in match play included: Italy's Renato Paratore, Grant Forrest, Julien Brun of France. Former Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup teammate Rhys Pugh was a big winner in the Round of 32, toppling Mario Galiano 5 and 4.
