Birmingham National Invt'l: Jackson threepeats

BIRMINGHAM, GA (June 1, 2008)--Tim Jackson survived a bit of a scare over the first nine holes at the final round of the Birmingham National Invitational, but recovered to hold off Jeff Belk, Ben Dupont and Will Swift by three strokes. Jackson won the event for the third time at 1-under-par 212, carding back-to-back 69's in the first two rounds and a 74 to close. Belk, Dupont and Will Swift were next at 215. Will Swift gave Jackson the best run, eventually tying him on the back nine, but a bogey on 13 and double on 15 derailed his chances. Swift finished in a tie for fifth at 216. In the senior flight, Atlanta's Jerry Greenbaum shot a 218 to win by a stroke over Gayle Sanchez. The Birmingham National Invitational, played at the Country Club of Birmingham, dates back to the early 1900's and was won in 1916 and 1920 by Bobby Jones.
