Big 12: Record Day Keeps Oklahoma State In Lead

The Cowboys fired a record-breaking 10-under overall team score to remain the leaders after Day 2 of the Big 12 Championship

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (April 26, 2011) -- Oklahoma State fired a record-breaking 10-under-par score of 270 to stay atop the field at the 2011 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. The Cowboys set the Big 12 Championship record for lowest overall round with their performance Tuesday. Their three-round total of 845 also broke the event mark for low 54-hole score, previously set by Texas in 2002 (850). OSU had four players under-par in round three, tying the record set in the first round at last year's event by Texas A&M. The Aggies shot a third-round 5-under-par total of 275 to finish in second place, followed by third-place Texas. Texas Tech (4th, 866) and Oklahoma (5th, 867) are just one shot from each other. Sixth-place Missouri finished with a 4-under round of 276 to jump four spots in the standings. Oklahoma State's Morgan Hoffman (70-69-68=207) played steady throughout day three, carding a 2-under 68, to keep himself atop the individual leaderboard. Hoffmann's teammate, Kevin Tway (66-73-71=210) sits in second. Jordan Russell of Texas A&M is in third with a three-day total of 212, while Chandler Rusk (TTU), Ryan Sirman (OU) and Julio Vegas (UT) are tied for fourth with three-day totals of 213. Russell and OSU's Sean Einhaus recorded the day's low with 4-under-par rounds of 66. The final day of the 2011 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship will begin at 8 a.m. CT Wednesday. Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Missouri tee off the first hole while Kansas, Nebraska and Baylor will begin their rounds on the 10th. The remaining six teams begin at 8:50 a.m. with Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas going off hole 1 and Colorado, Kansas State and Iowa State starting on the 10th tee.
