Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship Announced

The inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship will be held from April 4-6, 2019

AUGUSTA, GA (April 4, 2018) - On Wednesday Augusta National Golf Club Chairman Fred Ridley announced the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship. The tournament will be held each year the week before the Masters with Saturday's final round to be contested at Augusta National. A 54-hole event, the Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship, will first be contested next April 4-6, 2019 with the first two rounds being played at the Champions Retreat Club before the field is cut to the low 30 for Saturday's final round. The field of 72 player will be comprised of winners from recognized events and using the Women World Amateur Golf Rankings. “Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts left behind a legacy of always trying to contribute meaningfully to the game of golf,” Fred Ridley said said in a press release. “The Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship embodies that principle, and we believe this event will have a significant and lasting impact on the future of the women’s game.
