Auburn surges for Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate

AWENDAW, S. Carolina (March 25, 2014) -- Auburn won the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate with a 15-under 273 in the final round of the event on March 25. The Tigers were led by Niclas Carlsson (T-1) and Matt Gilchrest (T-3) in Awendaw, S.C. Carlsson tied with Kentucky’s Ben Stow for medalist honors at 7-under 209. Gilchrest, College of Charleston’s Zach Munroe and South Carolina-Aiken’s Brandon Robinson-Thompson finished in a tie for third, one shot back of the co-medalists. South Carolina finished in second, three strokes behind Auburn, No. 23 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings. College of Charleston placed third at 7 under. The 10th-ranked team by Golfweek, Virginia, finished in fourth at 6 under after a final-round, 8-under 280. Wake Forest rounded out the top 5 at 1-over 865.
