Arizona State ascends to the top of Golfweek/Sagarin rankings

Following its dominant performance at the Southwestern Invitational, Sun Devils take over the top spot in Golfweek/Sagarin poll

There's a new No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin collegiate rankings and to the surprise of no one, it's the Arizona State Sun Devils, who used a dominating performance at last week's Southwestern Invitational to ascend to the top of the poll.

Following its 30-under performance to win the nationally-televised Southwestern Intercollegiate earlier in the week by 13 strokes over Pepperdine, the Sun Devils jumped from third to the top spot in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top-25 while the defending NCAA champion Waves remained in the second spot.

Oklahoma, Texas A&M and North Carolina round out the top five in the poll.

The win at North Ranch Country Club marked ASU's second team title this season following its win at the Isleworth Collegiate in October. The Sun Devils also had top-five showings at the Maridoe (3rd) and the Fighting Illini Invitationals (2nd) in September.

Cameron Sisk (Maridoe), Preston Summerhays (East Lake co-medalist) and David Puig (Southwestern) all have individual wins on the season.

The Sun Devils return to action on Thursday when they join a strong field at the Amer Ari Invitational at the Hapuna Golf Club on the Big Island.
