SCOTSDALE, AZ (August 26, 2016) -- After quarterfinal and semifinal wins on Friday Ken Tanigawa will now have a chance to defend his Arizona Amateur title against Cory Bacon.
The 2015 champion, and two-seed this year began his day at the Country Club at DC Ranch with a 2&1 quarterfinal win over No. 11 Jeff Fell.
After pushing through to the afternoon semifinals Tanigawa was again able to win 2&1, this time over No. 46 Anthony Cecere, the highest seed to make it to Friday.
12-seed Cory Bacon made his way to the final match with a 3&2 win against No. 20 J.J. Gresco in the quarterfinals before upsetting top-seed and medalist Sam Triplett in a 19 hole semifinal match.
The championship match between Tanigawa and Bacon will begin at 7:30 a.m. MST.
