Anthony Quayle captures Keperra Bowl in Australia

KEPERRA, Australia — Anthony Quayle (Sanctuary Cove) has won the 2015 Keperra Bowl at the Keperra Country Golf Club after a fantastic display of consistency over the four days. The Queensland Academy of Sport Member was nothing but brilliant all week, firing a first round six-under par (66) and solid even par (72) in the second round. His two round total of 138 placed him in the top groups heading into the final 36 holes. Quayle fired a third day, one-under par (71) to elevate him further up the leaderboard and one shot back heading into the final round. He shot a flawless front nine that included four birdies, with three birdies and three bogies on the back nine. Quayle closed out his tournament with a four under par round 68, giving him a four round total of 277 (-11). Austin Bautista (Bonnie Doon) and Kiran Day (Cottesloe) tied for outright second, two shots behind Quayle. Last year’s champion Troy Moses (Bonnie Doon) fired rounds of 68, 73 and 72, for the first three rounds, to put him in contention leading into the final day. He returned a final round score of 67 to finish three shots back (280) for the tournament. Final round leader Charlie Dann (Pelican Waters) finished in equal third place after a solid back nine with only one bogey to finish 73. Third place was also shared with Troy Moses (Bonnie Doon), Andrew Schonewille (Yarra Yarra), Blake Collyer (Metropolitan GC), Mitchell Gannon (Bonnie Doon) and Daniel Gale (Castle Hill), finishing the tournament with 280 (-8). The Keperra Country Golf Club course was presented in outstanding condition, proving again to be a fantastic Championship facility. Special thanks to the superintendent and his staff. The majority of the field from this year’s championship will now travel down to the Gold Coast to compete in the 2015 Queensland Men’s Stroke Play Championship at Arundel Hills Country Club, Sunday 18 - Tuesday 20 October.
