Andy Hess wins Idaho Amateur by one

Idaho high-schooler Andy Hess edges a trio of players who finish one stroke behind him at Pinecrest Golf Course

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Andy Hess, a Hillcrest High School golfer, shot 71 in the final round of the Idaho Men's Amateur to edge a trio of players who finish just one back of him. Hess, who opened with back-to-back rounds of three-under par 67 at Pinecrest Golf Course, was two-under in his third round through 11 holes but made three bogeys in his final eight holes. Still, Hess captured the title in his home town. Taking second place at four-under par were Jesse Hibler, Gilbert Livas Jr., and Tanner Priest. Hibler's third-round 66 was the lowest score of the tournament, tied with two other players who went low on Sunday, as well. Tommy Higham's 66 pushed him into the top-five while Chris Nelson's four-under par round gave him a top-10 finish.
