HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA (July 2, 2006) -- It was a close fought match in the final pairing today clinched on No.18 by John Driver of Palo Alto and Jason McHargue or Redwood City. First round leaders Matt Marshall, Los Gatos and Brandon Christianson, Valencia held their lead till Driver and McHargue had a string of 3 birdies on Nos 4, 5 and 6. The youths from UCLA clawed back a few strokes and went into No.18 tied for the lead.
A birdie on No.18 clinched the deal for Driver / McHargue stealing the title by one stroke.
Senior Division:-
Last minute entries, - Mark Miller of Antioch and partner David Goettsch began the day one shot off the lead but fired 7 birdies on the way to taking the title by one stroke from overnight leaders Marco Dusi of Escalon and Ken Webb of Turlock.
Net Division:-
Jeff Lerner of Sunnyvale and partner Rick pittenger of San Jose began the day 2 strokes off the lead but fired a tournament net low of 63 today (including Net 1 on Par 3 No 6.) backing up their solid round one score and taking the Net Division title from overnight leaders Bill Strahan of San Jose and Gene House of Kentfield, CA
